You need to read this article if you’re looking for a CBH medical.

A safety-critical medical is an in-depth medical that is designed to make certain that anyone who is carrying out safety-critical tasks or working on a site is fit to do so. This is imperative for the safety of themselves and others. Most construction activities require a safety-critical medical for a number of job roles.

However, there is some confusion, as a lot of people do not realise that CBH medicals are not available anymore. Don’t worry, though; there is a replacement.

Why are safety-critical medicals needed?

In the beginning, safety-critical medicals were initially intended for employees carrying out a safety-critical role, for example, working in confined spaces, working at heights, or doing heavy plant operations. However, the scope for these medicals has since been extended, and now they are applied to virtually all workers entering a site, whether their roles are safety-critical or not.

CBH medical is no longer available

A lot of people are unaware of the fact that CBH (Constructing Better Health) does not exist anymore. This does not mean that you are absolved of your responsibility to carry out safety-critical medicals, though. SEQOHS accredited safety-critical medicals are the ideal market-leading replacement.

What does a safety-critical medical include?

There are a number of different components that tend to be included in a safety-critical medical, and these elements are typically reviewed each year. This includes the likes of a hand-arm vibration assessment, hearing assessment, skin assessment, and respiratory health assessment.

Aside from this, there is a medical component, which tends to be reviewed every three years or so. This includes mobility and coordination (musculoskeletal) checks, urinalysis (urine test), psychological and mental health, colour perception, visual activity (sight), and blood pressure.
